McGrath is located 221 miles northwest of Anchorage and 269 miles southwest of Fairbanks.  The community functions as a transportation, communication and supply center for Interior Alaska. It is adjacent to the Kuskokwim River, directly south of its confluence with the Takotna River.

This camera is located in "Downtown McGrath" on McGuire Drive.  The building partially visible on the left is McGuire's Bar and the building toward the upper part of the frame is Susie's Cafe.  The small building toward the right is the Magnuson Air Office and behind the fence is the airport apron.  Directly behind that is the Kuskokwim river.  McGrath is also a checkpoint for the world famous Iditarod sled dog race and the Iron Dog Snowmobile** race. 

** Fun Fact:  We don't call them snowmobiles.  They are snowmachines.
